ARATS Chairman Chen Tours Altek, Expresses Admiration of Company’s Vigorous Growth
While in Taiwan, China’s Association for Relations Across the Taiwan Strait (ARATS) Chairman Chen Yun-lin, on 5 November, visited the Hsinchu Science Park where he toured Altek Corporation, a publicly-traded designer and manufacturer of digital cameras. During his visit, China’s top official for Taiwan relations said that, while he certainly admired the scale of Altek’s business, it was the clear technological lead Altek held over competitors and dedication to long-term success that was most impressive.
During his visit this afternoon, Mr. Chen toured Altek’s research and development division and spent time chatting with employees. Before leaving, the Chairman confided Altek was a company that he specifically requested to visit while on the island.
Mr. Chen said that, while the scale of Altek’s business was certainly admirable, it was the clear technological lead Altek held over competitors and dedication to long-term success that most impressed.
The ARATS Chairman’s visit lasted about half an hour. Aside from visiting the R&D division and research labs, he also expressed a high degree of interest in Altek’s latest digital camera release, which incorporates global positioning (GPS) functionalities. Altek presented one of the new GPS cameras to the Chairman as a remembrance gift.
